Over the years a variety of problems in the musculo-skeletal area, have been improved with kinesiology and massage therapies by Madonna and New Leaf Natural Therapies, including things that have been debilitating for many years!
My main pains have been in the lower back area, the bit between the shoulder blades, the knees and many, debilitating cramps! It had even been so bad that ambulances had been called on several occasions in order to help with the cramps, now they are a thing of the past (as long as I stay on fibroplex!!!).

Hi. I’ve had massages with both Cherice Day and Katherine Lynn in the past few weeks in order to sort out (mainly) a lower back issue. No surprise was that they found other areas needing work as well. Cherice did Chinese cupping & remedial massage. I found she could easily massage deeper after allowing the ‘cups’ to do their work. I’ve also had a hot stone massage from Cherice in the past, which is just bliss!
The past few days I’ve had 2 massages with Katherine Lynn and she’s worked through much more than my lower back. Katherine has used techniques to. It feels that we’ll need to do more work on my lower back, although I’ve already felt quite a big improvement. loosen my shoulders, my neck and my back and hips

Cupping is an ancient Chinese practice where the cup is suctioned, applied to the skin, and the pressure in the cup is reduced (by using change in heat or by suctioning out air), so that the skin and outer layers of the muscles are drawn up and into the cup. Sometimes the cup may be moved while the suction of skin is still active, causing pulling of the skin and muscle (gliding cupping).
This treatment has similarities to other massage techniques, such as the rapid skin pinching along the back. In that practice, the skin is pinched, sometimes at specific points (e.g., bladder meridian points), until a redness is generated. Cupping is applied by acupuncturists to certain acupuncture points, as well as to regions of the body that are affected by pain (where the pain is deeper than the tissues to be pulled).
When the cups are moved along the surface of the skin, the treatment is similar to sand scraping, a folk remedy of southeast Asia which is often carried out by scraping the skin with a coin or other object with the intention of breaking up stagnation. Movement of the cups is a gentler technique than sand scraping, as a lubricant allows the cup to slide. Still, a certain amount of bruising is expected both from fixed position cupping (especially at the site of the cup rim) and with movement of the cups (up to 2 weeks of bruising should be expected after cupping massage techniques).
Traditional cupping, with use of heated cups, also has some similarity to moxibustion therapy. Heating of the cups was the method used to obtain suction: the hot air in the cups has a low density and, as the cups cool with the opening sealed by the skin, the pressure within the cups declines, sucking the skin into it. In this case, the cups are hot and have a stimulating effect something like that of burning moxa wool.

Approaching his third birthday, my son was displaying the systems normally associated with ADHD and I was extremely concerned. I am so glad I decided to give Madonna a go at New leaf Natural Therapies. After performing a Live Blood Analysis on him, she then treated him with Kinesiology and Naturopathy. After about two weeks I noticed a positive change in his behaviour and people started commenting on his improvement soon after that. His screaming, frequent tantrums, crying and gagging are a thing of the past and he is now a happy, sweet boy with a hearty appetite! All achieved with the power of nature, rather than the horrors of drugs like Ritalin.
Thankyou Madonna and team.

Fat-Loss/Weight-Loss Challenges!
It’s important to know that there are definite challenges associated with weight loss and fat loss in some people. The good thing is that at New Leaf we know what to do about it. Many programmes are designed for the quick weight loss only – low calories, lots of shakes, small portions – and that’s fine. But what we find is that there is rarely enough protein in these diets and people lose muscle mass: this leads to exhaustion and thyroid problems.
The ongoing stress with this is that people will ALWAYS put on weight again afterwards! And low fat diets lead to hormonal issues since hormones are made of proteins and fats!
We also find that people don’t detox whilst losing weight, the problem here is that fat mass holds huge amounts of toxins – it’s a fantastic storage space, so by losing weight without detoxification, we’re simply pulling toxins out of the fat mass and less it flow through the blood stream and land in the nerves, the spine, the liver, the kidneys. This can cause a multitude of other health problems.
So, the two tips here are 1. eat heaps of protein and 2. detoxify while losing weight!

Remedial Massage notes from the desk of Cherice Day and Katherine Lynn.
Massage therapy is an art. It’s a skill and it needs to be a passion. Good remedial massage therapists meet a client and create a plan of attack in order to solve a physical problem; frozen shoulder; knee issues; back or neck or shoulder pain – whatever the problem, it needs skilled hands to sort it out.
Clients often come in thinking that an issue will be sorted out in one session. Then it comes down to what has caused the problem in the first place as to how long it takes to fix.
What causes chronic pain?
- muscles being too acidic (therefore you probably need a high quality magnesium such as fibroplex powder) from lactic acid;
- muscles being too dehydrated (most Aussies don’t drink enough water!) Coffee, tea, soft drinks, white sugar and flour products all dehydrate our bodies;
- structural problems: sitting badly, sleeping badly, exercising badly, not stretching, not being able to relax, nutritional deficiencies…
- immune activation within muscles such as fibromyalgia (the immune system attacks the muscle fibres); auto-immunity in problems such as Rheumatoid Arthritis
These reasons give us an idea why 1 massage isn’t always the only answer. Cherice & Katherine will put together a plan of attack so that you can start healing from the inside out. If there’s more of a health picture that needs naturopathic attention, you will be referred to Madonna Guy ND or Jacqueline Dekoke ND.
Yours in health
Cherice & Katherine

Natural strategies for asthma have improved hugely over the last five years. Breathing is such a natural process that it’s hard to imagine the lungs conspiring to stop us…however, it now happens to many, many Australians each year!
2.2 million adults have asthma (1/10) and 1/6 children (the third highest rate of childhood asthma in the world!
Around 400 deaths per year are a result of asthma and around 60% of these are fully preventable – even moreso when the lungs and respiratory system are supported with natural therapies… it takes time, but it may save your life!
New Leaf Natural Therapies have strategies to help you improve your lungs and take control of your life!
- natural supplements strong enough to create an anti-inflammatory process within the lungs: thereby allowing us to reduce medication as appropriate
- supplements and frequency specific microcurrent help to repair the lungs and bronchial tissue which has been inflamed for so long
- reduce allergens and allergic tendencies: the number one reason for asthma attacks – we do treatments to improve allergic tendencies: these include supplements; kinesiology and frequency specific microcurrent. In our live blood analysis testing we usually find massive levels of eosinophils (allergy markers in the bloodstream) in asthmatics. We consistenly find these improve over time with this combination of treatments.
- repair the gut! We find that just about 100% of our clients with asthma have ‘leaky gut syndrome’ in our Live Blood Analysis. The tissue in the gut (endothelial tissue) is identical to that of the lungs and inflammation tends to happen simultaneously in both areas with affected asthmatics. So ‘leaky lung syndrome’ and ‘leaky gut syndrome‘ go hand in hand!
- Many chronic coughs are a result of either subclinical asthmatic tendencies or allergies. It is important to get to the bottom of it as these coughs can last for years!
- Asthmatics tend to have low oxygen levels due to inefficient lungs: increasing substances like co-enzyme Q10 and oxygen supplements help the body to re-oxygenate.
