Feeling Tired All The Time: 1st sign of chronic disease!

Tuesday, April 13th, 2010

Feeling tired all the time? Exhausted?  Burnt out? Did you know that it’s not just a symptom – it’s a sign that some crucial bodily functions aren’t working properly!  Medical tests just don’t find anything MOST of the time, but if you’re sick of feeling zonked, then read on!!

How long since you woke up feeling energised??  Have you been feeling  tired all the time? Exhausted from the moment you get up, unless you use stimulants – sugar, coffee & tea, cigarettes, stress…  Needing these stimulants is a sign that your cells aren’t functioning properly.  Medically, nothing can be done until a disease is present, but trust me, you DON’T want to wait until you’re a medical mess.

Here’s a 7 part process to more energy!  Talk to us today and get your journey started!

  1. Have a cellular analysis (VLA) and find out how much energy your cells are giving you.  Your Active Tissue Mass (muscle) is what feeds your energy cycle.  With low quality muscle mass and low amounts of muscle mass, your cells ARE NOT GIVING YOU ENERGY!  Work on improving your muscle mass!
  2. Have a look at your cells with Live Blood Analysis: there are 2 types of anaemia we see regularly – Iron deficiency and B12/folate deficiency.  We regularly find both types of anaemia in Live Blood Analysis with Chronically Tired People.
  3. How acidic are you? We do urine tests which let us know if you are acidic – if your body has a ph (acidity) of 6.5 or lower (more acidic) than the body is working harder than it needs to:  it has a harder time hydrating your cells, detoxifying your cells, removing inflammation, killing bacteria, viruses, helicobacter, parasites and more.
  4. Remove inflammation: With live blood analysis and cellular analysis we know how inflamed you are, this gives us a starting point.  We use infrared saunas, natural  supplements, massage therapies, frequency specific microcurrent, structural kinesiology to reduce inflammation.
  5. huge doses of fish oils that are heavy metal free.  Now, this sounds easier than it is, since nearly every supplement claims to be free of toxins.  However, did you know the government rules on toxicity are a joke?  We only recommend Metagenics fish oils and 100% of their range is completely non-toxic, whereas most ranges are very dodgy.  You then need a therapeutic dose of the fish oils to reduce inflammation and allow the cells to function a little better!
  6. Removing anesthetics: even dental work can impact on energy levels, having moles removed, veins stripped.  Tiny amounts of anesthetics can attach to nerve membranes and stop them from being functional, hindering the nerve conduction in the body.  We use B12 (at least 2000mg daily); infrared saunas and frequency specific microcurrent to pull anesthetics out of your body.
  7. Detoxify!  Our Foundations of Health Programme is a 9 month programme which works through the body’s filters 1 by 1 and cleanses them.  Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is linked to all of the filters being clogged, hindering nerve and cellular conduction.  We work through balancing the ph (acidity) as well as cleansing the gut (candida, parasites, helicobacter, fungus, leaky gut, allergens); the liver; the immune system and the kidneys.

So don’t despair, if you’re feeling really tired, you need to start at the beginning and treat the symptoms initially, and then cleanse, cleanse, cleanse!  Slowly but surely, you’ll get better and better.  Start your journey today – call Gabby or Helen on 3348 6098!

Blood Sugar Balancing: 5 Keys to Preventing Diabetes

Tuesday, April 13th, 2010

Blood sugar imbalances create so many problems for people today: but it is possible not only to prevent diabetes, but also in beginning the process of reversing diabetes.  We see so many people who have the beginning symptoms of sugar cravings or dizziness when it’s been a few hours since they’ve eaten.

What are the symptoms of blood sugar imbalances?

  • needing to eat regularly
  • dizziness if you haven’t eaten in a few hours
  • hungry within an hour of eating
  • sluggish liver – inability to lose weight, poor energy
  • (or hungry all the time)
  • mood disorders
  • hormonal imbalances such as PMT & PCOS
  • headaches and migraines
  • chocolate cravings

There are 5 keys to preventing diabetes:

  1. eat a protein snack every 3-4 hours: meats, nuts, cottage cheese, cheese, tofu
  2. eat fish for your dinner 3 x weekly along with salmon/sardines for lunch 3-4 x per week.
  3. maintain a healthy weight and/or work towards a more balanced BMI (body mass index)
  4. use products which balance your blood sugar: for example, we utilise products such as Metagenics Insulex, Resist X, Fibroplex, Meta Oil
  5. exercise regularly: 30 minutes daily (minimum) has been shown to balance blood sugar and help our cells to function -  usually blood sugar balancing is also about having insulin resistance, therefore the cells simply can’t take in insulin into the cells, and energy creation can’t happen effectively inside the cells.

Our solutions for blood sugar balancing:

  • We have a weight loss programme (and a payment plan to save you money) to start the process of fat loss.
  • We have a chronic pain programme (if pain is the reason exercise is difficult) which helps to reverse chronic pain conditions.
  • We have a hormonal balancing programme (and a payment plan to save you money) to balance all of the hormones in your body.  Hormones are everything!  Nothing happens in your body without a hormonal component.  Nothing!
  • We use frequency specific microcurrent and infrared saunas to detoxify the cell membranes to detoxify insulin and allow the insulin to be utilised the way that it should.

So there are many ways we can help you, here at New Leaf Natural Therapies for your hormonal imbalances.  See us today!

Fat-Loss Programmes: common challenges!

Fat-Loss/Weight-Loss Challenges!

It’s important to know that there are definite challenges associated with weight loss and fat loss in some people.  The good thing is that at New Leaf we know what to do about it.  Many programmes are designed for the quick weight loss only – low calories, lots of shakes, small portions – and that’s fine.  But what we find is that there is rarely enough protein in these diets and people lose muscle mass: this leads to exhaustion and thyroid problems.

The ongoing stress with this is that people will ALWAYS put on weight again afterwards!  And low fat diets lead to hormonal issues since hormones are made of proteins and fats!

We also find that people don’t detox whilst losing weight, the problem here is that fat mass holds huge amounts of toxins – it’s a fantastic storage space, so by losing weight without detoxification, we’re simply pulling toxins out of the fat mass and less it flow through the blood stream and land in the nerves, the spine, the liver, the kidneys.  This can cause a multitude of other health problems.

So, the two tips here are 1. eat heaps of protein and 2. detoxify while losing weight!

Madonna on the Radio…4BC & BayFM

Friday, December 18th, 2009

We really hit an interesting discussion this week on 4BC (1116) & BayFM (100.3) when we started discussing natural pain options, and we started talking about how long anesthetics stay in our bodies.  We had several callers who have never recovered since having anesthetics for one problem or another.

We use Frequency Specific Microcurrent and clinical nutrition in order to remove anesthetics from the body.  It can take several sessions and months (or years for some very toxic people) of supplements to remove anesthetics from the body.

Side-effects of anesthetics include liver and gut dysfunction; exhaustion; muscle aches and pains; numbness and neuropathies; headaches and lots more.  If you feel that you may fit into this category, give us a call and we’ll talk to you about how we go about removing these substances from your body!

SIBO – Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth

Sunday, November 22nd, 2009

SIBO, Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth is a reasonably new discovery, or at least has finally been proven within the medical and naturopathic fields.  For years naturopaths have worked on clearing ‘bad large intestinal bacteria’ with reasonable to good results, but when the intestinal growth is in the small intestine, instead of the large intestine, there are no tests which indicate where the infestation is, and results may not be as good.  Detoxification of the intestines has always been hugely important for preventing disease and illness, naturopathically.

The problem is that symptoms of gut issues: bloating, burping, belching, wind, flatulence, diarrhoea, constipation (irritable bowel syndrome) can be either a small or large intestine issue.

For those of us who do kinesiology we are blessed with the ability to check where the overgrowth is (and it is often through the entire digestive tract) and what the infestation is made of: parasites, fungus, candida, bacteria, viral etc.  Thank goodness for kinesiology…

And of course, SIBO is hugely indicated in many health issues:  it has been found that 80-100% of chronic fatigue syndrome sufferers, as well as those with fibromyalgia suffer from SIBO – 80-100%.  i’m sure SIBO will be indicated in reversing chronic disease in the future.  It really gives a new perspective on treating the gut first – an old naturopathic adage…

Detox – Lemon Detox Diet: latest news!

Saturday, November 21st, 2009

I’ve been annoyed about the Lemon Detox Diet for months now.  So many people tell me they’ve tried it and I’m stunned that it sells so well.  From the naturopathic perspective, here’s what I’ve thought for ages: It has lots of sugar, there’s very little protein, so it’s going to burn muscle and gain fat.  People MIGHT have an overall weight loss but what are they doing to their body composition!!

On Channel 9’s “What’s Good For You?” a show that regularly picks on natural therapies, they were testing ‘detox diets’ to see if they worked.  The conclusion – they don’t work and that they are actually bad for you – raise triglycerides (fats in your blood), upset liver function and lots more.  However, it was the Lemon Detox Diet that they used as their example!  As usual, they didn’t have a naturopath to chat to (at New Leaf we’ve done years of research and training into detoxification processes and do it properly) and came to the conclusion that it’s bad for people.

Obviously that’s silly.  We live in the year 2009, we breathe in over 70,000 chemicals daily and nearly every single health concern is linked to toxins, acidity and inflammation: cancer, diabetes, heart disease, Alzheimers & dementia!

Hi Ya’all!!!

Saturday, November 21st, 2009

Well, this is our first Blog here at New Leaf Natural Therapies… very cool. So we’ll be putting in thoughts, actions, ideas about health that we want to share. We are very proud of our beautiful, non-toxic clinic here in Wynnum, Brisbane. Because we do so much detoxification for our clients, we knew we needed to be congruent with our message.

So, we used totally non-toxic glues, vinyl (marmoleum), carpets (100% wool); resene paints, non-mercury light globes and use 100% organic towelling in our massages & infrared saunas!

Life is toxic, our clinic doesn’t need to be…  have you thought about how to detox your home and living environment.  Each time you buy another new product, appliance, paint your house etc, have a look at the ‘toxic element’ to it and do some research.  It’s not as hard as you may think to be a little more healthy!

Stay tuned…
