500 calorie HCG diet – how does it work?!

Friday, March 25th, 2016
Obviously the 500 calorie part of HCG scares people half to death initially… Here’s what SHOULD happen:
1. The HCG drops (10 drops 3 x daily – 4 if you’re starving) should be stimulating the hypothalamus in the brain to release brown fat from your body.
2. The brown fat is around 1000-1500 calories daily – therefore your body is REALLY running on 500 calories of food PLUS the brown fat calories: so we’re really running on 1500-2000 calories daily.
3. The drops need to be taken evenly throughout the day – by doing this we are consistently releasing brown fat into the bloodstream, which is keeping hunger at bay. Some people hardly ever feel ‘hungry’ on HCG.
4. If we’re hungry on HCG there are several factors that may be taken into account: blood sugar levels; stress levels; not taking HCG evenly throughout the day; too much exercise.
5. Doing the Very Low Calorie Diet VLCD not only SHRINKS your fat cells, but done correctly also ELIMINATES many fat cells – unlike any other weight loss process (besides liposuction!)
Call us on 3348 6098 for an appointment with our naturopaths to help your HCG process run more easily.  Annette and Lynn can answer many questions on the phone – but often the questions require a naturopathic consultation where there are complicated health issues involved.

Shorter rounds of HCG Rapid Weight Loss Process: losing 2-6 kilos is easy!

Monday, January 12th, 2015

I’m about to do a short round of HCG to shift 3.5 kilos….. it’s been a busy and delicious month!

I get the question about doing a shorter round of the HCG diet all the time:  personally I’ve done shorter rounds many times simply to shift a couple of kilos when life has been busy, I’m failing to exercise, I’ve had too many parties, meetings one after another – and they all build up. People with only 3-6 kilos to lose don’t necessarily need to do the full round of 23-4o days.  Brown fat builds up in times of stress, times of heavy calorie intake, low exercise times.

So can you still do the diet if you don’t have that much weight to lose? And what is the HCG diet plan for those shorter rounds?

Well to start off, yes, you can a shorter round no problem. I’ve heard from purist that a 26 day round is the shortest you should ever go. But I whole-heartedly disagree. First off, I’ve done shorter rounds, and I’ve never seen any issues with anyone doing a shorter round in the four years I’ve been helping people with the diet.

So yes, you can do a shorter round.

If you have, say, 4 kilos to lose what you should do is plan on about 20 days of the diet. So get enough HCG to last you at least 20 days. People who have a lot more weight to lose will lose 4 kilos in a week or so, but when you are so close to your goal weight you tend to lose a bit slower and it’s nice to plan ahead and not get caught without enough HCG drops.

Then just start your round as you would any round, do the 2 loading days, then on the third day you start the low calorie phase. Keep going on this phase until you reach the end of your round or you reach your goal weight. If you hit your goal weight on say day 15, then stop the drops on that day, do 3 days of the diet without taking the HCG drops to make sure it’s out of your system, then jump into the maintenance phase.

Once you are in maintenance you should still do the 3 weeks of maintenance. Yes, do 3 whole weeks even though you did a shorter round. You need to give yourself time to set that weight point so you don’t go back to your old weight. There is no point in losing weight if you don’t keep it off, so take maintenance phase seriously.

Now if you have say 2 kilos to lose, that’s probably not enough weight to go to the trouble of starting the diet. I did a round to lose 3.5 kilos but already had left over HCG from my first round so I used it up. But I don’t think I’d go buy more if I only had 2 kilos to lose:  I’d probably do the Shake It or Keto System over a couple of weeks.

One thing I do want to warn you about is don’t compare yourself to others while on the diet. Especially if you are so close to your goal weight. As I mentioned earlier, the closer you are to your goal the slower your weight loss will be. But that’s normal so just be aware of it. Also realize that you will get to your goal weight as long as you keep going and don’t quit. Quitting won’t get you to your weight loss goals. So just keep going until you hit that end result you are looking for.

We are well-trained in HCG protocols, issues and problems at New Leaf…   Phone consultations available.

Why is Sugar, particularly Fructose, so bad for our Health?

Monday, August 12th, 2013

Sugar is driving every metabolic disorder that is killing humans:  heart disease, cancer, obesity, diabetes, dementia.

In the 70’s when heart disease and diabetes was on the rise, we were told that fat was the villain.  Companies, governments, medical researchers all around the world jumped on this bandwagon and now ‘low fat’ products – muesli bars, yoghurts, milks, drinks, chips – were better for you – with the idea that if a food didn’t have fat in it, it couldn’t make you fat!

However, take the fat out of food and it tastes awful, so they had to replace it with something – sugar!  Eventually sugar became the essential additive.  Foods then became low in fats, high in sugar which is so much worse for our health.

Imagine these ‘health foods’:

  • 98% fat free yoghurt – you might as well is eat lollies or ice-cream!
  • Real egg mayonnaise – the low fat variety – has 6 x the sugar that the regular one has
  • low fat muesli bars – often contain 20-40% sugar
  • The Heart Society actually recommended (in the 80’s) that high fat foods be replaced by:  hard candy, gumdrops, sugar, syrup, honey, jam, jelly, marmalade – in order to ‘control the amount and kind of fat, saturated fatty acids and dietary cholesterol you eat’.  Even now, the tick of approval, seems to have nothing to do with health.

So, in the 70’s and 80’s sugar was recommended, instead of fat, to keep up healthy!

Now that 60-70% of Australia’s population are overweight and obese, it seems that the low-fat diet we’ve been following for 30 years hasn’t worked.  In naturopathic circles we’ve been working against this for decades, however that ‘tick of approval’ from the National Heart Foundation, is what so many people go by for their health.

  • Many cereals such as Cheerios & Milo Cereal have up to 30% sugar – endorsed by the National Heart Foundation
  • The National Heart Foundation claims that the tick is ‘simply to help consumers find healthier options’ – how is 30% sugar a healthier option?
  • In the U.S. there’s been a 7 x increase in sugar consumption in the past 40 years – tomato & barbeque sauces, processed foods, hamburger meats, hamburger buns  – just about anything with a ‘label’ has added sugar, or sugar alternatives such as aspartame, which are equally deadly to our health.

Since the agricultural revolution – when grains became a major part of our diet – our carbohydrate intake has slowly increased – but never more so than in the past 40 years.  This leads to a constantly high insulin levels, which messes with our metabolism, and allows us to lay down fat in our bodies.  In fact, insulin is the main hormone which causes fat deposition in the tissues.

The higher the insulin, the more likely you are to store fat.

Now, if it’s subcutaneous fat, the type that stores just in underneath the skin, that’s not so bad.  Visceral fat, however, is deposited around the gut, intestines, liver and other organs – is incredibly bad for us.  Visceral fat releases ‘pro-inflammatory hormones’ which cause inflammation elsewhere in the body:  causing diabetes and heart disease.  It is possible to be lean, and metabolically unhealthy.  Around 40% of ‘thin/normal weight’ people are metabolically unhealthy with abnormal levels of visceral fat and poor insulin metabolism.

Professor Michael Cowley, an Obesity Expert at Monash University says ‘you might as well eat sugar as many of the health foods’ available today.’

Sugar is a simple carbohydrate made of two molecules:  glucose and fructose.  This bond is cleaved in the gut, before it’s absorbed.  It’s been shown that glucose drives the fat storage just in underneath the skin, whereas fructose deposits fat around the organs, like the liver, causing fatty plaques.  When you have excess fat around the liver, it messes up fat and insulin metabolism and you end up with Insulin Resistance.  This is when the liver doesn’t work effectively, so the pancreas has to release excess insulin.

Insulin Resistance also causes hypertension, changes in the brain that might result in altered brain function, altered cognitive function and even dementia.  It can increase cell proliferation which can cause cancer, it can cause vascular smooth muscle proliferation which can cause heart disease.

Professor Robert Lustig, Paediatric Endocrinologist at the University of California, San Francisco, says that Sugar can also accelerate ageing:  if you had your fruit juice this morning, you are ageing 7 times faster!

When you ‘paint’ your BBQ meat with BBQ sauce, it browns the meat.  This ‘browning’ is happening inside your body as well.  It’s known as the ‘browning reaction’ and it causes cellular ageing.  The reason manufacturers add fructose is because is browns better, faster, quicker.  It’s why it’s added to bread (to brown the toast), sauces (to brown the meats) – it browns your insides better too!  If you had a glass of fruit juice this morning, you’re ageing 7 x quicker!

Fructose is mainly found in fruit, that’s why they call it fruit sugar.  Now, you might be thinking ‘how can it be bad for me – it’s fruit!’.  But if you had to have the entire amount of fruit that we would have used to make the juice, you would be so full you couldn’t eat the meal.  Juicing removed the fibrous pulp portion of the fruit – so you can take in a whole lot more calories without feeling as full, and it’s the fibrous pulp which balances the sugar/fructose portion of the fruit!

If you’re going to eat fruit, eat the whole fruit – because it’s the fibre that tames your insulin response to sugar.

Chronically high levels of fructose is not only toxic to your liver, it messes with the hormones that control appetite.  There’s a hormone in your stomach called ghrelin which controls your appetite – it’s the hunger hormone.  When your stomach is empty, the ghrelin goes up, tells your brain it’s time to eat.  Then you eat, and ghrelin levels go down, the hunger goes away.  When you eat sugar, fructose does not get registered by the brain as you having eaten, you stay hungry!

If you need support in finding out what you should (and shouldn’t) be eating – call us on 3348 6098 to make an appointment.  We find that many of our clients have issues with Insulin Resistance, dealing with Fructose, releasing ghrelin and so much more!

HCG Rapid Weight Loss: Safe, Easy, Effective, PROVEN!!!

Tuesday, June 18th, 2013

HCG:  the safest, fastest, easiest way that we’ve ever found to lose weight IF it’s done properly.  Without detoxification, balancing hormones, HCG can make people a toxic and emotional mess.  At New Leaf, we use a combination with natural therapies which:

*  detoxification supplements which detox fat and blood and toxins are being released (hugely important to stop rebound weight issues)

*  do VLA Bio-impedance Screenings so that you KNOW what is going on in your body – fat mass, muscle mass, inflammation, toxicity, metabolism.  One of the worst things about weight loss is hitting those ‘stalls’.  With VLA Bio-impedance Screenings, we can see if it’s because you’re gaining muscle mass, getting more hydrated, releasing toxins and storing fluid to dilute them…  All of which gives you the information you need in order to stay focussed, positive and switched on.  Most naturopaths do not have our experience in dissecting this information for you – and don’t know what to do specifically on HCG.  We’re HCG specialists at New Leaf!

*  balance blood sugar:  some people need extra support.  If blood sugar isn’t balanced we can feel hungry (or starving), have highs and lows of energy, poor sleep/insomnia, and feel stressed.

*  break down scar tissue in the abdomen:  With Chi Nei Tsang Abdominal Massage we can ensure your organs through the abdomen (liver, gall bladder, kidneys, adrenals, reproductive organs, bowels, bladder, spleen, pancreas, lungs) are functioning properly.  Amazing treatment protocol that improved function of all of these major organs in your body.

*  kinesiology for self sabotage (ever experienced that with weight issues??!!).  Put on weight, sabotage your whole day?  Can’t stop eating once you start?  Let’s start working on those self-beliefs that don’t serve you for your goals:  “I’m not worth it”  “I can’t do it”  “I can’t do it without support”  “It’s too hard making two meals at night time”.  If you think about sabotage, they’re generally just thoughts that don’t serve us and don’t help us to move forwards in life.

Starving Hungry on HCG Weight Loss Protocol???

Thursday, May 23rd, 2013

Chatting to a new client yesterday who really has had trouble with HCG in the past.

Not using the HCG that we use (which works brilliantly – RFM HCG Homoeopathic Drops), so I can’t comment on effectiveness, however, she starved the whole way through her previous 23 days, couldn’t do consolidation because she was so ravenous.  To me, this sounds like the drops weren’t working.  Pure and simple.  Homoeopathic drops are sensitive…

*  be care with them – keep away from electrical appliances
*  have 1/2 hour away from eating, drinking tea/coffee, cleaning teeth
*  give them a shake prior to each time you use them to re-activate them

Is it a problem being starving for the whole time on HCG if you can manage to work through it???  Absolutely YES!!!

*  If the homoeopathic drops aren’t working, then you are literally on a starvation diet
*  You will do all the things to your body that yoyo dieting does
*  You will probably lose muscle mass
*  You will probably lose minerals and quality from your muscle
*  This slows down your metabolism
*  This is why we end up with thyroid problems
*  Without the HCG Drops working, you will probably regain the weight you’ve lost, and more, due to the fact that your metabolism is slower, your body composition is worse (more fat, less muscle) and it takes some time to reverse that.

If hunger is more like insulin highs and lows / energy drops / ravenous for a short time, then our favourite supplement is:

*  Resist X.  2 tabs 3 x daily.
*  supports reversing insulin resistance
*  helps with stress
*  helps with energy
*  helps with sugar cravings
*  helps with PMT – type symptoms

As always, call or email any problems you may be having.  We do phone consultations (special offer – mention website and pay only $99 for an hour long consultation with either Phoebe or Rachel – fabulous bargain!)

Our team also offer many services which support HCG weight loss:

*  Infrared saunas (burn fat, release toxins)
*  Kinesiology for stress, counselling, blocked patterns, low energy, blocked energy, mood stabilisation
*  Naturopathy to support any underlying health problems
*  Abdominal Massage to increase flow of energy, blood supply, lymphatic supply to all your major organs  …  and more

Need a viality boost? Trying to lose weight? Crashing in the afternoons?

Wednesday, April 10th, 2013

Many of us still opt out of eating breakfast, or if it is eaten, its a rushed slice of toast that doesn’t sustain us past 10am.. Habits like this can lead to blood sugar crashes, weight gain (you eat less, but your metabolism winds way down and your body keeps all the calories it can when you do eat), fatigue, moodiness, and of course, nutrient deficiencies.

Breakfast really is the most important meal – it can influence how we eat for the rest of the day! In general, breakfast eaters weigh less than those who skip it. Eating breakfast gets your metabolism going, helps to maintain a healthy body weight, helps you concentrate, have more energy throughout the day and deal better with stress. If you skip breakfast, you are very likely to end up compensating for it later in the day by overeating the wrong foods.

If you lack appetite in the morning, a smoothie is a great way to get an easy to digest, nutrition-packed breakfast. Try this recipe:

Breakfast smoothie

1 cup almond or rice milk

1 serve of plain, undenatured whey, rice or pea protein powder

1 teaspoon of honey or to taste

1 /2 cup fresh or frozen fruit, such as berries, pear, banana or peaches

A dash of pure vanilla extract or almond extract

1 teaspoon of Spirulina powder or Greens powder

Grated  fresh nutmeg or organic cinnamon powder

 1-2 ice cubes

Blend all ingredients and enjoy. Cinnamon is great for blood sugar balance, Spirulina or greens powders boost energy and add an extra serve of all important greens to your breakfast. Protein supports blood sugar balance and cuts cravings for carbs or sweets later in the day. High quality protein powders are available from the New Leaf clinic dispensary.

Far Infrared Sauna – amazing health benefits!

Monday, March 18th, 2013

Perspiration is recognised by health practitioners worldwide as perhaps the most effective method of removing both difficult chemical and heavy metal toxins from the body. The combination of “resonant absorption” and low heat makes this the detox method of choice for chronically ill patients as well as those that are well and wish to stay that way by reducing their “toxic burden”.

As your body increases sweat production to cool itself, your heart works harder to boost circulation, thus improving your cardiovascular system. Your immune system is also strengthened because when your body temperature is raised, your systems fight this “artificial fever”. Sweating helps detoxify your body, by removing the accumulation of potentially carcinogenic heavy metals as well as alcohol, nicotine, sodium and excess cholesterol. Profuse perspiration also deeply cleanses the skin, improving tone and helping to treat skin conditions.

Hippocrates, the founder of modern medicine wrote more than two thousand years ago “Give me the power to create a fever, and I shall cure any disease.” During a fever the functioning of the immune system is stimulated, whilst the growth of bacteria and virus is forced to slow down. Fever is the body’s natural defense against bacteria, viruses and microbes. Heat triggers the production of infection-fighting  white blood cells. The result is immune system improvement. The generation of antibodies speeds up, as does the production of interferon, an anti viral protein that also has powerful healing properties.

Far Infra-red sauna is one of the most effective forms of heat treatment it’s technology allows the radiant heat to penetrate the body rather than heating the air in the sauna. It is also better tolerated by those who have trouble with the intense heat of traditional saunas as well as producing  maximum health benefit with lower ambient heat. As the pores in the skin open up millions of sweat glands start to excrete, the body rids itself of metabolic and other waste products. Sweat contains almost the same elements as urine and for this reason, the skin is sometimes called the ‘third kidney’. It is estimated that as much as 30% of bodily wastes are eliminated by way of perspiration.

Far Infrared Sauna:

  • Is well tolerated by most healthy adults and older children.
  • Boosts immune function and is helpful for those who are limited in their ability to sweat through exercise due to lack of energy or physical limitations, such as injury of back pain
  • Is a viable and efficient means of eliminating toxins from the body, thus allviating any symptoms realted to increased toxic burden
  • Can help lower high blood pressure
  • Can be helpful for patients with asthma and chronic bronchitis.
  • It decreases pain and increases mobility in patients with rheumatic diseases.
  • Is beneficial for people with chronic fatigue and low immunity
  • Supports skin health and helps to treat skin conditions

Always remember to re-hydrate following heat therapies, drink extra amounts of water throughout the day.

The healing journey with New Leaf

Saturday, March 2nd, 2013

Embarking on a health journey is a brave move to make. It means looking at the issues you may have avoided for a while and facing them head on. It’s a process that is often scary yet can also be richly rewarding. When you are the best version of yourself you can be, you can really shine and be there for those close to you.

It can be said that it’s a means of coming back to your basic self  – seeing your body as a precious temple and paying attention to what you really need. It’s treating yourself gently and gaining a greater connection to the whole of you – body and mind. As one of my favourite authors Sarah Avant Stover puts it – the only way out is in and through. To go through our health issues rather than going around them is the only real way to back to balance and health.

At New Leaf, we are committed to your success in this process. We know it’s yours, to go through in your way. Offering a harmonious range of therapies, we seek to find the real cause of your health issues and guide you back to balance and health.

We see your journey to optimal health as a partnership between yourself and us. Thus, we have a few suggestions for you in order that you get the best results from your treatment with us:

  • Eat a fresh, wholefoods diet. When you eat fresh, vital food, you feel just that. Everything we eat nourishes our cells. If we consider that the body is really the only vessel we have to take us through this lifetime, it makes sense to nourish it with the best food possible.
  • Drink a minimum of 2 litres of pure filtered water daily. Besides hydration, there are countless benefits of drinking adequate pure water. Improved energy, detoxification, digestion, skin condition and weight loss are just a few.
  • Limit caffeine, or better still, cut it altogether. Caffeine creates extra work for your liver, and can place stress on the adrenal glands and nervous system. It also promotes dehydration and in the long term, fatigue. There are many delicious herbal teas and coffee alternatives available in supermarkets and health food stores.
  • Sleep 8 hours a night. While sleeping as little as possible in modern society is often considered admirable behaviour, the truth is, it promotes premature aging, weight gain, can increase stress and complicate many other health issues. It may require changing your usual routine a little, but getting 8 hours of quality sleep a night is an investment in your health.
  • Spend a few minutes a day alone, doing some quiet breath awareness in a comfortable seated position. All you need do is focus on your breath with your eyes closed. This can have wonderfully beneficial effects on your nervous system, improving mood, reducing stress and creating calm. A calm body heals well!
  • Increase body movement. This means different things to different people. Start with where you are at in terms of your current physical fitness, and do what feels right for you. Even if it just means adding incidental exercise by taking the stairs instead of the lift, walking to a colleague’s desk rather than emailing, or taking a short walk before or after work. Start where you are at the moment and build gently from there.

These are simple steps you can take today to improve your body’s ability to balance and heal. You can do one at a time, a few, or all of them, whatever feels right and good for you. It’s up to you.

We look forward to supporting you in achieving a state of greater health.

New Leaf now provides Chi Nei Tsang Abdominal Massage – read on!

Chi Nei Tsang (Abdominal Massage) available at New Leaf Natural Therapies

What is Chi Nei Tsang?

Energetically – who knows the cause of sickness?  Where does internal pain, issues with our major organs such as the liver and kidneys, the stomach, small intestines, large intestines come from?  Naturopathically, it has always been taught that step one for any long-term health problem has been to cleanse the body’s filters – the digestive tract, the liver, the immune system/lymphatic systems and the kidneys.  Congestion in any of these areas can cause poor energy, poor circulation and poor detoxification of any of these systems.

In Chinese medicine it has always been taught that blocked energy starts this toxicity building up – Chi Nei Tsang helps with both – it starts to move the inflammation, the toxicity and the energy blockages that are stopping blood, lymphatic flow and nutrient absorption throughout our major organs.

Have you ever felt ‘knots’ in your stomach, tightness under the ribs, described this to your therapist who simply prescribed antacids or digestive enzymes?  These is so much more to health than that…and the last thing you want is to suppress symptoms which may come back to haunt you down the track.

Our Foundations of Health programme is a nine month detoxification process which starts the body healing as our filters start to clear.  It is a long process (quick and dirty detoxes rarely make lasting change) to health for some people.

I found this fabulous description on Chi Nei Tsang from http://radiantliving.com/chi-nei-tsang-abdominal-massage/ in the U.S. and it describes energy and the abdomen and how it relates to our health, our wellbeing, our stressors, our operations and medications…

“The Taoist sages of ancient China observed that humans often develop energy blockages in their internal organs that result in knots and tangles in their abdomens. These obstructions occur at the center of the body’s vital functions and constrict the flow of Chi (energy), our life-force. The negative emotions of fear, anger, anxiety, depression, and worry cause the most damage. Problems can also be caused by overwork, stress, accidents, surgery, drugs, toxins, poor food, and bad posture.

Through meditative practices the sages learned to look within themselves. They discovered the internal organs connect with the Five Forces of the Universe and provide a link between the human microcosm and the universal macrocosm. The organs contain the essences of the spiritual force of a human being. They also provide the physical lines of force that hold the body together and give it structure.

When obstructed the internal organs store unhealthy energies that can overflow into other bodily systems and surface as negative emotions and sickness. Always in search of an outlet, these negative emotions and toxic energies create a perpetual cycle of negativity and stress. (Fig. 1) If the negative emotions can’t find an outlet, they fester in the organs or move into the abdomen, the body’s “garbage dump.” The abdomen can process some emotional garbage, but more often it can’t keep up with the flow. The energetic center of the body located at the navel becomes congested and cut off from the rest of the body.

Fig. 1 Negative energy cycle leads to knots and tangles in the abdomen.

B. Chi Nei Tsang: A Method to Clear Blocked Energy

Chi, the life-force energy, moves through the body’s internal channels, nervous system, blood vessels, and lymph glands. These systems concentrate and cross paths in the abdomen which acts as their control center. Tensions, worries, and stresses of the day, month, or year accumulate there and are seldom dispersed. ‘These disturbances can cause physical tangling and knotting of the nerves, blood vessels, and lymph nodes. The result is the gradual obstruction of energy circulation.

The ancient Taoists realized that negative emotions cause serious damage to one’s health, impairing both physical and spiritual functions. They understood that each human emotion is an expression of energy and that certain emotions could indicate the negative energy behind many physical ailments. They also identified a specific cycle of relationships between the emotions and the organs. For example, the experience of a “knot” in one’s stomach indicated the presence of worry, the negative emotion that accumulates in the stomach and spleen.
The Taoists discovered that most maladies could be healed once the underlying toxins and negative forces were released from the body. They developed the art of Chi Nei Tsang to recycle and transform negative energies that obstruct the internal organs and cause knots in the abdomen. Chi Nei Tsang clears out the toxins, bad emotions, and excessive heat or heat deficiencies-that cause the organs to dysfunction. (Fig. 2)

C. Chi Nei Tsang: A Complement to other Disciplines”

Makes a little sense doesn’t it?

We complement Chi Nei Tsang with all of the other services we provide in our clinic, in Wynnum Brisbane.

We know that Chi Nei Tsang is very energizing, strengthening, and detoxifying the internal organ systems of our body.  It supports the removal of negative influences and is fantastic for intestinal blockages, cramps, knots, lumps, scarring, headaces, menstrual cramps, poor blood circulation, back pain, infertility, impotence and many other issues.

Imagine avoiding intestinal surgery through an incredibly systematic and thorough treatment process.

Q. First Few Days on HCG: Madonna’s comments

Wednesday, November 14th, 2012
From an HCGer…
Hi, I am on day 5 (including 2 loading days) and have lost 2kgs, however today I have a bad headache and am really hungry. I have just taken some panadol but am struggling today. My loading days I ate HEAPS but was thinking the whole time I wasn’t hungry and wasn’t craving anything. Now of course every time I turn on the TV there is a food as and I want it!!
Madonna’s Comments:
1. Headaches are due to detoxification… the body is releasing toxins from the fat tissue, and our body is struggling dealing with it. Drink heaps and heaps of purified water.  In our clinic we have infrared saunas (an hour is recommended on HCG), kinesiology protocols that support detoxification, raindrop technique (essential oil technique), and energetic healings, all of which support the body’s lymphatic system and major organs to eliminate toxins faster.  Lipoic Acid (4 daily available at New Leaf) is both a fat soluble and water soluble anti-oxidant – in other words it sops up toxins from both the blood and the fat tissue.  It’s fantastic for HCG.  It also helps with blood sugar balancing which can be a major cause of headaches on HCG.
2. Hunger: homeopathic drops take different amounts of time for different people to kick in. It’s only day 3 on the VLCD, some people take up to day 5 before homeopathic drops kick in. Make sure the drops are away from eating, drinking, coffee, cleaning teeth, and keep away from electrical appliances.  We use products such as Resist X to settle down the hunger – drink heaps of filtered water, gymnema settles hunger and sugar cravings, chromium helps to create energy within the cells – there’s lots we can do for hunger!
3. Panadol: do the best you can, but obviously your adding another toxin to the body which will have to be dealt with.  Hopefully it will only be the first few days for these headaches – let’s us know whats stored in our fat tissue doesn’t it??
4. Have a treatment with Norm or Kat and start balancing the hormones – getting them to kick the hypothalamus into action might be a possibility from the kinesiology perspective as well. Kinesiology can re-connect the hypothalamus with many parts of the body so that it speeds up the process of supporting HCG to kick in as quickly as possible.
5. Resist X: 2 tabs 3-4 x daily – if you need it, it increases cellular energy, gets the sugar activated properly within the cells (supports insulin resistance) – great for hunger on HCG.  One of my favourite supplements for clients on HCG.
6. Kinesiology for food sabotage… can also be used to help your brain and body settle down into the hcg process..  HCG is a process that helps to re-frame our food tendencies, and helps us deal with sabotages, bad eating habits, munchies…things that we may not even be aware that we’re doing!  Kinesiology, energetic healings, reiki, raindrop technique all help to settle our nervous system down.
7. Raindrop Technique: essential oil technique performed by Rachel that kicks the nervous system into action.  Gives energy.  Settles the adrenals and cortisol levels so that hunger may be normalised.  Good luck!!!  Total bliss, either an hour of Raindrops Technique or 1.5 hours of Raindrop/Reiki combination.
