Are you sick of people telling your kids are lazy? Not paying attention? Not focussed? And you know something’s going on with them?

Is your child stressed about going to school, feeling picked on or stupid?

There is help available – and NOT drugs or years of counselling… we are specialists in this area and have many many years of experience…

We do a combination of treatments in our clinic that can help your children: NOT (Neural Organisational Technique); LEAP (Learning Enhancment Acupressure Programme) and FSM (Frequency Specific Microcurrent) which can help to determine and correct, what’s going on in the brain of your kids.

What does this mean?

We can FIND and CORRECT:

Issues which have been there since birth: poor oxygen to certain parts of the brain; jammed cranial bones; poor nutritional supply to the brain due to caesarian sections; anesthetics still in the system due to epidurals and anesthetics.

Old Stress Patterns that are Hindering the Ability to Learn: once a child has been repeatedly in trouble for ‘being lazy’, ‘not trying hard enough’, ‘feeling like the class idiot’, their body starts shutting down as soon as they go to do something they’ve failed at in the past.

Vaccination Side-Effects: some children don’t cope with vaccination toxins. It can (in susceptible children) hinder liver function, brain function, immune system function…

Neurological Switching: sometimes the brain simply isn’t sending information to the correct areas, or ’switch off’ crucial pathways and functions (for example logical thinking) under stress.

DPP4 Enzyme Deficiency: means that certain foods may be acting like ‘opioids’ in your childs brain and stopping or hindering brain function, making them tired and stressed and unable to cope or learn.

Sound like you or your children could do with a session!?? We have a Learning Enhancement Programme which will save you lots of $$$ per month if you believe this programme would be good for you or your family.

Based on the research of Charles T. Krebs, Ph.D. &
Susan McCrossin, B. APP. SC.

(from Complementary Health News Journal)

One of the most common factors associated with learning problems is a “blocked” Corpus Callosum, the site of hemispheric integration. A blocked Corpus Callosum also generally results in poorly developed access to Gestalt or Logic functions.

An even more important, yet often unknown factor affecting learning, is a profound deep level confusion in mental processing which we term “Deep-Level Switching”. In people with Deep-Level Switching, their brain confuses the location of their Gestalt and Logic processes causing massive processing problems as information is often routed to the wrong cerebral hemisphere for processing. While Right-Left, Deep-Level Switching may profoundly affect, our academic learning, Top-Bottom and Front-Back, Deep-Level Switching can have equally profound effects on learning “life’s lessons”. Unless this “Deep-Level Switching” is resolved and the “blocked Corpus Callosum, ” cleared, people can never realize their true learning or human potential.

A number of kinesiological techniques and acupressure techniques can help reintegrate brain function at the electromagnetic, neurological and emotional levels. For those who have long-term, ongoing loss of brain integration resulting from experiences traumatic enough to permanently shut down part, or most of the communication across the corpus callosum, or who experience the massive brain confusion that we call deep level switching, more specific ic and direct interventions are required. The Learning Enhancement Advanced Program (LEAP) protocol can help address these imbalances. This article addresses these issues based on the research and experience of Charles T. Krebs, Ph.D. from Australia and Susan McCrossin, B. APP. SC. from the U.S.

Mental processing of activities seems to take place in the most ancient part of the brain, in the limbic system, with its various nuclei and the paleocortex. The brain, using hierarchical processing, determines how information is sent, stored or retrieved. With learning disorders some processes seem to go off-line. Dr. Krebs surmised that the brain processes in a modular fashion. If one of the antecedent functions were compromised, all the processes dependent on that function would also show deficits. A way to unlock the processing sequences was needed.

Applied physiology and kinesiology interacts with on-line brain processing, and allows the integrity of modular or sequential brain functions to be directly assessed. Using only a few specific muscle tests, whole configurations of brain functions such as the integration of visual processes, can be accurately discerned. Stress or dysfunction in mental processing can be easily detected by monitoring muscle response in conjunction with the activation of specific acu-points, either singularly or in combination.

Whenever any factor disrupts coherent homeostatic muscle proprioception (feedback), a locked muscle may suddenly weaken or unlock, indication that this factor is acting as a stress in the muscle feedback system. Thus using only a few specific muscle tests, whole configurations of brain functions such as the integration of visual processes, can be accurately discerned.

For a full discussion of Kinesiology and muscle response testing you are referred to Dr. Kreb’s book, “A Revolutionary Way of Thinking: From a Near Fatal Accident to a New Science of Healing”‘.

Applied physiology techniques for brain physiology formatting, developed by Richard Utt of the International Institute Of Applied Physiology, Tucson, AZ, provided the guidelines for the primary neurological processing modules and a basic format to access them. Utt showed that by focusing on the physiology of the brain itself, the readout of brain function would often show up as a pattern of acu-point activity instead of single active acu-points.

Once the pattern of stress, as indicated by a pattern of acu-point activity, was detected by muscle response testing, factors causing that stress could be pinpointed, and kinesiological and acupressure techniques could be applied to normalize the area. Thus, in the case of dysfunction in communication across the corpus callosum, as soon as the stress, or stresses that caused shutdown of functions were resolved, processes vital to learning could come back on-line.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and other techniques revealed that in all but one of sixty one cases not responding to LEAP treatment, the underlying cause of learning problems was organic brain damage.” Brain damage can occur before, during or after birth even from a blow on the head, oxygen deprivation or seizures. As long as the affected areas are either small, or in a non-critical centre of function, the brain is able to compensate but may function less efficiently.

If damage occurs to a critical structure, like the left hippocampus, problems in the auditory or short-term memory processing develop. These processing functions weren’t changed, because pre and post-testing of Weschler Intelligence digit-span test, a standard measure of auditory short-term memory, remained the same for these brain damaged individuals.

FUNCTIONAL SHUTDOWN

In cases not involving organic damage, hippocampal function can usually be restored via acupressure treatment. In several hundred cases psychometric post testing has shown a return to the normal range of auditory short-term memory and even more importantly, a child was from then on able to remember spelling of words and retain multiplication tables’. For example, consider a 12 year old girl with a digit span of only 3 digits forward and 2 digits backwards. This low functioning would place her in the lowest percentile of same-age children for auditory, short- term memory function, and was thus having extreme difficulty at school as she had basically no short-term memory. After applying hippocampal formatting techniques, she improved to the 50th percentile for children her age. She had gone from practically no useful function to average ability for her age. She could now access enough short-term memory to learn spelling words, and for the first time in her life, could recall her multiplication tables even weeks after learning them. She improved from the 25th percentile in innate reasoning capacity to the 99.81 percentile following treatment. Literally, she went from the bottom of her class to the top of her class in six months.

Learning is a voluntary activity. Even if you have optimal brain integration you may choose not to use it for a variety of personal and emotional reasons. Teenage boys can be some of the least satisfying clients because in many cases they are brought to treatment under protest. Even if these teenagers currently choose not to take advantage of their new state of integrated brain function, reintegration does give them one big advantage: they now genuinely have the ability to develop a function if they want to use it in the future. Before integration they had little chance of developing these function.

For example, during a follow-up visit after completing the brain integration program with a 15-year-old, his mother reported that his spelling had shown no improvement. He was then checked for his ability to learn to spell words, which he easily demonstrated. He was then asked to spell some words he had learned as part of the program months before. Again there was no problem. He had demonstrated his ability to learn to spell any word quite easily and to remember it, but he was just choosing not to do so at this time and for his own reasons. The integration was showing up elsewhere: He now had 70% accuracy shooting baskets in basketball. Prior to treatment he had been shooting with 20-30% accuracy.

An encouraging counterpoint to that case was the case of a 16-year- old boy who passionately loved reading and who was desperate to be able to spell well. He came for integration and in the two weeks following the correction of his spelling functions he mastered 150 words that had always given him problems. At his next appointment, he bought in a list of the 50 most difficult words and asked to be tested on them. He got all but one right. Six months on, he had no spelling problems of any note and continued to be highly motivated to succeed in an area where he had previously experienced only failure.

EEG PATTERNS AND BRAIN INTEGRATION

An EEG allows scientists to look at the patterns of electrical activity generated by the cortex of the brain when it is performing an activity. Traditional forms of EEG, using only three reference points, were inconsistent, showing a varying degree of correlation between the type of mental task and the areas of the cortex showing activity, How were the researchers to distinguish if activity was due to the stimulus they were initiating, or some other brain activity, such as random thoughts?

A study was made by McCrossin with five learning-disabled adults ranging in age from 18 to 45. Primarily, they reported reading comprehension and short-term memory problems. The study concentrated on a new EEG method known as Steady-State Visually Evoked Potential (SSVEP). In this SSVEP technique 64 electrodes are placed on the scalp, covering all processing areas of the cortex. In this way, specific areas of cortical activity can be identified, particularly against the constant stimulus of a flashing light. When the data from the electrodes is fed into a powerful computer, detailed maps of cortical activity can be constructed. While being SSVEP scanned, if a person is asked to consciously do a particular mental task, he will automatically activate specific brain areas related to the performance of that task. In the area that is active, the SSVEP signal is reduced and the degree of reduction is proportional to the degree of activation of that area. An activation map of the brain was drawn.

In a previous study comparing children with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) to normal subjects on two different mental tasks, the SSVEP patterns of these two groups showed significant differences. When normal subjects were doing a purely visual task, observing a computer monitor displaying numbers, their brains showed activity predominantly in the occipital lobes in the back of the brain, where visual image formation takes place. When they were then asked to anticipate, or pay attention to a particular signal, their cortical activity switched to the frontal lobes, the area of the brain involved in attentional tasks. In ADD children, the brain activity did not change. Activity remained predominantly in the occipital lobes even when they were paying attention.

Children with ADD or adults with learning problems often just watch their world and react to whatever happens with little anticipation of what might occur because they cannot activate the brain areas involved in “paying attention” which is required for anticipating outcomes. Likewise, since prefrontal activity is also required for “planned” decision-making, and there is little prefrontal activity when people with ADD and learning problems make decisions, it would appear that these decisions must depend more on “reaction” to stimuli than on planned actions based on considered decisions.

Along with these changes in cortical activity, after LEAP there was concomitant improvement in the adult subjects digit span and reading comprehension. Before integration, the reading comprehension of the group had varied from 33 per cent to zero, after LEAP all had 100% comprehension. On the digit span test, all subjects changed from being marginal or borderline in their function to being above-average. Changes in both these mental functions is supported by the significant changes in cortical activity observed in the SSVEP results.

WHAT IS INTELLIGENCE?

Intelligence has been defined as being composed of two distinct aspects: “fluid” and “crystalline” intelligence”. Fluid intelligence is the capacity to perform abstract reasoning which involves “native” intelligence and is thought to be unaffected by formal education. This includes the ability to solve puzzles, memorize a series of arbitrary items such as words or numbers, as well as the ability to change problem- solving strategies easily and flexibly. Crystalline intelligence, on the other hand, comprises the abilities that depend upon knowledge and experience or the amount of stored factual knowledge such as vocabulary and general information.

A number of standardized intelligence tests like the Wechsler Intelligence Scale of Children (WISC) and Stanford Binet Intelligence Test, have been developed to measure various aspects of cognitive function. Regardless of whether these psychometric tests measure “intelligence” or not, they do provide a standard assessment of performance in a variety of cognitively demanding tasks.

In a second study by McCrossin, three standardized tests of fluid intelligence were chosen to help measure intelligence: the WISC Block Design subtest, the Kaufmann Matrices and Inspection Time”. The subjects were also tested on short-term memory and reading comprehension. The WISC digit span subtest was used as a measure of short-term memory, retrieval and distractibility. The Neale Analysis of Reading, a standardized test to assess reading comprehension, was also applied. Twenty children were initially assessed on the five psychometric tests and then were retested six to eight weeks later. In the intervening period the ten children in the treatment group had the complete LEAP protocol performed on them. The ten children in the control group received no treatment, but were retested at the end of the study.

Empirical observation and scientific validation of these tests show that fluid intelligence generally does not improve over time”. From this data it has been assumed that a person’s past and future performance will be the same (or, allowing for growth, will hold their relative position amongst their peers). This appears to hold true for children with learning disorders even when they have received extensive remediation.

The McCrossin study found statistically significant improvements in all of the tests of fluid intelligence between the pre- and post-tests for the treatment group”. No changes occurred in the performance of the control group. The LEAP protocol was shown to be capable of changing the innate reasoning capacity of these children. It was capable of affecting profound changes including the demonstrable ability to apply flexible strategies to solve problems.

The complex task of digit-span (short-term memory and attention) also showed significant differences before and after treatment between the two groups. There was an increase in the forward digit span from 4.8 (before treatment) to 6.2 (after treatment) and an increase in the backwards digit span from an average of 3.1 (before) to 5.5 (after). Since the average adult digit span is six forwards and five backwards these children had clearly improved from a deficit in this vital function to “above normal” 14.

With the LEAP program, problem areas within the brain can be detected and corrections can be made to enhance reading, motor coordination, visual perception and psycho-neural responses.

ADHD and LEAP

Some children who come to the LEAP program are classified as hyperactive and taking Ritalin to control it. Often when a child is going through the brain integration program of a LEAP, these children will calm down and maintain this state even after withdrawal from Ritalin. Parents often report that LEAP has resolved the child’s hyperactivity.

The LEAP protocol has such potential for improving the lives of so many children and adults, extensive testing by a major medical school or other research facility would seem to be a worthwhile investment.

Madonna’s comment: I have been using the LEAP programme in my clinic for over 10 years. We currently have 3 LEAP Practitioners in our clinic, as I see it as a core method in supporting people’s health and wellbeing along with helping memory, learning and children’s anxiety about attending school and exams.

Why? Chemicals in most cleaning products are toxic and dangerous for our health. If it says:

only use in ventilated rooms

don’t use around children or pets

don’t touch surface area afterwards

beware – not to take internally

then it’s probably toxic for us, our pets and children, and most importantly – bad for our health!! Many of these products are bad for fertility, increase our risks of cancer and diabetes, add to our pain levels, create chronic fatigue and more.

Dr Albert T.W. Simeons was born 1900 In England. Educated in Germany, he studied and qualified as an endocrinologist at a time when that discipline was in its infancy. Endocrinology is concerned with the endocrine system – the biological system involving the functions of hormones, and the cells of the glands that secrete them. Hormones drive many processes within our bodies.

At the age of 30 years, Dr Simeons moved to work in India where he studied an endocrine disorder known as “fat boys” syndrome. This disorder was attributed to the pituitary gland that caused extreme obesity in boys whilst delaying puberty. It was at this time that he found the link between fat loss and a naturally occurring hormone accompanied by a low calorie diet.

Around 1950, Dr Simeons set up a clinic in Rome, Italy where he worked diligently to refine his “diet and weight loss protocol”. His manuscript “Pounds and Inches – A New Approach to Obesity” to which many people frequently refer in preparation and throughout their program was originally penned in 1954 with updated editions produced over the following two decades. The protocol facilitates the release of the long-term locked-away fat stores known as adipose tissue. Adipose is a rich source of energy and nutrients but it is not available to the human body when calories are reduced – it is only released when with a specific low calorie diet is undertaken in conjunction with specially prepared diet drops that mimic the effects of the raw hormone that he used nearly 60 years ago. In evolutionary terms, it is the body’s way of providing life-giving nutrients to a mother’s unborn child in near-starvation situations. In our affluent western culture, this natural back-stop – almost never needed – has created a burden on those of us who carry this locked away adiposity.

Dr Simeons passed away in 1970 at the age of 70 years. He had accomplished much during his career that increased understandings of biological processes to improve human health. His diet research is undoubtedly the area of health that is most often connected to his name.

Reading his manuscript: Pounds and Inches (available on CD from New Leaf Natural Therapies) is a fabulous read… he developed this manuscript for doctors helping people through the HCG programme.

Fat in our body is a storage unit. Many people know that we store fat soluble vitamins such as vitamins A & D, vitamin E and essential fatty acids in our fat and liver in our body. So this is a good thing. Fat also keeps us warm and gives us that glow of good health when in perfect harmony with muscle and a great diet and lifestyle.

As a storage unit however, fat is known to store many toxins. The body insulates us from these toxins by storing toxins in our nervous system (brain, spinal cord, nerves), our liver, our bones and our fat mass.

We store toxins such as the following in our fat mass:

heavy metals such as aluminium, mercury, cadmium, arsenic, lead…

pesticides, herbicides and other food-toxins

preservatives, colourings, flavourings

stress hormones such as cortisol, adrenalin, noradrenalin…

pain hormones

drug residue – any drugs commonly taken such as pain killers, the OCP, anti-depressants etc

insulin (is your tummy fat getting bigger as you get older)

dodgy oestrogens & dodgy testosterones (the ones that cause mood swings, cancers of the reproductive tracts)

So, you can imagine when you start a weight loss programme, particularly a successful programme such as the HCG diet or the Shake It/Keto Programmes the fat loss will start (almost immediately) and these toxins will be released into the bloodstream to be eliminated.

In our clinic, in order to find out how you are coping with these toxins we may recommend:

ph testing – oral & urine to find out how well your body is coping with toxins through the whole digestive tract;

urinary indicans – lets us know how much dodgy bacteria your body has, therefore liver detoxification would be exceptionally dangerous at that stage;

live blood screening – lets us know how ‘leaky’ your gut is, stressed your liver is, whether toxins are running rampant through your bloodstream and more

kinesiology balancing to release heavy metals; to re-boot the brain after post-traumatic stress syndrome,

infrared saunas – we have 2 private rooms – infrared saunas penetrate 6cm under the skin instantly – this mobilises toxins from the fat tissue, blood stream, bone, spinal cord and releases them to be removed from your body…

So, fat loss WITHOUT detoxification can be very dangerous. We have seen cases of people getting chronic fatigue syndrome, arthritis, migraines after weight loss without detoxification. There are simple things you can talk to us about that will be safe, easy and effective to both lose weight healthily AND detox simultaneously…

Why do we have fat in our body:

normal fat keeps us warm, makes us look healthy and happy

structural fat is great for keeping our joints and bones bending easily

brown fat is our survival fat – lives around and inside our organs and our muscles and designed to be burned for energy when we are starving or freezing to death, hmmmm not likely these days, huh?!

unfortunately fat also has the unpleasant job of storing toxins – any toxins we breathe/eat and can’t eliminate or any toxins we create from internal processes such as pain, inflammation and stress

fat is also known to store excess insulin (tummy fat/visceral fat) particularly

Therefore for those of us who eat more than we should, eat the wrong combinations of foods, alcohol, meats, fruits, we can have to store excess calories as fat. Food can turn into fat within 12 hours in a body that is not burning enough calories for energy.

So… you’ve been told (or suspect) you have a DPP4 enzyme deficiency. The 2 most common food issues with this deficiency are wheat (sometimes gluten) and dairy. In order to get this enzyme working properly (to stop the addictive nature of the food and create a healthier gut and brain connection) it really needs to be cold turkey for the offending food. These are very different from allergies, intolerances and energy-mismatches which can be going on quite separately in your body. It takes at least 3 months for the wheat opioids to be out of the body – and at least 3 weeks for the dairy opioids to be released. Other foods which may create this affect are sugars, processed rice and alcohol. This opioid effect can create ANY BRAIN SYMPTOM that drugs can…

Wheat Alternatives:

I know – cutting out wheat – what a chore! But imagine life where your brain functions better, you have more energy, less pain and your memory is fabulous!

Firstly there are many gluten-free products available these days:

rice crackers

corn crackers

rye – ryvitas etc

many brands of gluten free breads

Obviously there’s the danger of overloading on gluten free goodies – just because it’s gluten free doesn’t mean it’s healthy! Read the packaging and also determine how much sugar, how many carbohydrates there are, expecially if weight or tiredness are an issue.

Dairy Alternatives

goat’s milk (if kinesiology says it’s ok – sometimes it is, sometimes it isn’t)

almond milk

soy milk – get non-genetically modified

rice milk – watch the sugar content – always add protein powder since it’s full of sugar

If it’s a real problem it may be easier to simply find food groups which avoid the need for ‘breads’ and ‘milks’ altogether…

quiche with lots of eggs & veggies

protein drinks (made with water/fruits)

soy/goat milk yoghurts

protein & veggies

lots of high protein, low carb recipes at http://www.shake-it.com.au/

(we have all of the products mentioned on that site…)

Hopefully that helps a little, obviously come in for a larger chat – there may be a lot more to it!!

We’ve been working with information about the DPP4 enzyme issues for kids (and adults) this year with some interesting results. There is an enzyme (DPP4) we release from the intestines, which if it’s not working, foods such as wheat and dairy can create an ‘opioid’ effect in the body.

It is NOT an allergy and will NOT show up in allergy tests. In fact, we find (kinesiologically) that they are totally different things in the body.

Think about anything that happens to people on drugs – slurred speech, hyperactivity, stress, anxiety, paranoia, exhaustion, panic attacks… and that can happen in people with a DPP4 enzyme deficiency. It can also create moodswings such as anger to tears and increase violent tendencies. It can also affect our pain receptors – kids will often injure themselves but not be hurt – that’s the opioid effect.

Because of the opioid effect, it’s a true addiction. We find it in kids with learning problems, autism and aspergers, ADD & ADHD, dyspraxia.

Over a period of time that will exhaust many organs of the body which are trying to deal with this opioid effect on a day by day basis. Using kinesiology we have found this opioid effect happening due to wheat, dairy, soy (occasionally), sugar, wine and rice. Once off the offending foods, it takes around 3 months for the ‘opioid particles’ to leave the body – which gives a great window of opportunity for us to heal the gut, detoxify whatever toxins (heavy metals, bacteria, candida) that are inactivating the enzymes and clean up the bloodstream.

When this DPP4 enzyme deficiency is rampant, the gut bacteria gets totally out of whack – the bacteria can change from good to bad and this bad bacteria can cause lots of issues to, such as bloating, burping, belching, wind, flatulence, diarrhoea, constipation. The bad bacteria can create other issues to, for example, they can convert insoluble heavy metals (the type we can’t absorb into the body) into soluble heavy metals (which we can easily absorb into our fat, brain, bones and muscle).

It’s worth finding out if there’s a DPP4 enzyme deficiency issue creating health issues for you or your family.

In our anti-biotic world, infections are one of those things where naturopaths are challenged, not because our products don’t work, but because they do… at a much deeper level, quite often, than what our drug counterparts can do…

If we are getting infections regularly, what does it mean?

immune dysfunction (we can see how dysfunctional with a live blood screening/urinary indicans/multisticks

liver congestion – the liver is the 2nd filter of the body – just before the immune system (3rd filter). If the liver is congested we are more likely to have viral, bacterial, fungal or parasitic particles storing in the liver, creating issues for us.

allergies - if our body is constantly dealing with allergies, it can’t focus on killing bacteria or viruses. In fact, the body isn’t that great at multi-tasking – if we’re constantly dealing with ANY health problem – other things (such as cancer) can being created in the background without us knowing about it;

poor gut health – 70% of immunity is in the gut? How’s your gut health? We can check through live blood screening and urinary indicans tests.

What can we do?

Kinesiology balances on the immune system

Cellular Regeneration treatments to boost the immune system and detox viral and bacterial particles

Supplements are very strong these days – depending on what you have going on in your system there are different supplements for different conditions:

Urinary Tract Infections: vitamin C, cranberry, crataeva etc

Staph & Strep Infections: herbal throat spray, S&S homeopathic, Golden Seal, AndroNK

Sinus Problems (usually bacterial): Allergeze; AndroNK; Herbal Nasal Spray

General Poor Immunity: Ultra Flora Immune – works directly on the gut increasing our whole body immunity

Brain Inflammation… sounds awful doesn’t it? Did you know that it’s impossible to have any of ADD, ADHD, Autism, Aspergers, Memory Loss without brain inflammation? It’s an increasing problems these days:

1 in 12 kids have ADD/ADHD

1 in 91 kids have autism/aspergers (this was 1/1000 10 years ago…)

1 in 3-6 kids have allergies (very much linked with ADD/ADHD/Aspergers/Autism)

1 in 2 people over 50 years old will have dementia by 2030

Scary statistics!

But does it feel like there’s nothing that can be done? Medically it’s a matter of give this drug (a calming down drug) in the morning and this drug (another calming down drug) at night… not to mention the side-effects and family stress associated with the problems of these conditions.

There are some things we can do immediately to start the process of reducing the inflammation in the brain! Kinesiology helps us target the correct things for you and your family – not everyone needs every intervention, and that would be exhausting!

Stop wheat, gluten and dairy: many kids have a DPP4 enzyme deficiency which creates an ‘opioid’ effect in the bloodstream which can literally make them act like they’re on drugs! Hyperactivity, tantrums, exhaustion, brain-dead…

Colourings, preservatives and flavourings: these overload metallothioneine pathways in the liver, the ‘particles’ create the inflammation in the brain, and cause hyperactivity and extreme anger symptoms in susceptible bodies…

Salicylate Sensitivity: often in kids with nasal allergies, red rashes. Salicylates are an aspirin-like substance that thin the blood (the liver, the skin, the gut – in susceptible people) and can cause huge problems where there’s an issue.

Sugars, fructose, glucose issues: many kids don’t have an ability to break down sugars properly. Kids foods are soooooo linked with sugars these days, all the pre-packaged spreads and biscuis, tiny teddies, fruit juices, cereals, muffins… If there is ‘insulin resistance’ the body is not getting the sugar into the cells, insulin is floating around outside the cells – yep, creating more inflammation!

Auto-Immune Components: Through live blood screenings and kinesiology we can find out if there’s the possibility of an auto-immune condition affecting the brain. Current thinking with Autism (particularly) is that an old staph/strep infection is affecting the basal ganglia in the brain, directly affecting moods, behaviour and how we interact with our world around us.

Heavy Metal toxicity: Lead, mercury, cadmium and aluminium (regularly in medications we give our children such as vaccines) are very well documented to be a link in ADD, ADHD (lead particularly), Autism (aluminium and mercury particularly), Aspergers and Allergies

LEAP Kinesiology: is a specific process done at New Leaf Natural Therapies that re-integrates the pathways of the brain. The more toxic the brain is (the more inflammation, insulin, opioid-like-substances, sugars, flavourings, colourings, preservatives) the more likely our brain pathways won’t be functioning properly. See if any of these problems sound familar for someone you love!

Amygdala stress: the amygdala is a part of the brain that is activated when we’re under stress. IF we’re stressing, and we don’t get our logical and creative thought processes finding a solution quickly enough, we whip into an old ‘amygdala’ pattern. (This is the same pattern that people with PTSD and Vietnam Vets know all about) The amygdala holds patterns of:

fight and flight (these can be fully activated or have exhaustion)

pain and punishment circuits (kids who are constantly in trouble are easily ‘labelled’ and therefore their brains and always expecting the worst. This doesn’t help behaviour in any circumstance where there’s always a pattern in place

escape, submission, freeze: some kids brains just ’switch off’, they look like they’re ‘not paying attention’ but their brains are just overloaded and they can’t take anymore

rage, anger, frustration (need I say more?!?)

pleasure and reward centres - switched off! this creates depression, anxiety, panic attacks, lack of enjoyment with day to day activities
