NEURAL ORGANISATION TECHNIQUE (N.O.T.)

NEURAL ORGANIZATION TECHNIQUE (N.O.T.)

I have taken training from several doctors in Australia and the United States who have developed techniques that deal with identifying and correcting faults in the nervous system. One technique that I have mastered is called Neural Organization Technique. It is a very powerful technique wherein its originator, Dr. Carl Ferrari, used muscle response testing to find the basic sequences or “programs” that we are all built with on a primitive level.

It encompasses knowledge from chiropractic, acupuncture, craniosacral therapy, reflexology, Neuro Linguistic Programming, and more. What is unique to Dr. Ferreri’s work is that he has found order in the system so that there is very little guesswork in making corrections. The protocols for correcting the body are to be done in a specific sequence every time on every person. It is as if someone has found the owner’s manual for the basic neurology of the human body and the reflexes to correct and reset it!

For example, one can reprogram an immune system by correcting a sequence of 15 to 18 reflexes on the body in about 5 minutes. To demonstrate the specificity of the technique, one can then reverse the sequence and recreate the faulty immune system for demonstration purposes. We can do this with the hormonal programs, scoliosis, learning disabilities, etc. This is a very powerful, very specific and very encompassing technique that takes only 120-150 minutes to complete all corrections! It is accomplished with very low force, and once it is done, the disorganization DOES NOT USUALLY RETURN unless there is a new significant trauma.

At first I found this hard to believe, however I have now treated many patients globally who have returned a year later for re-examination to show that all the corrections were still holding.

Every condition known to man involves nervous system disorganization at a base causative level. Therefore, one of the primary treatments in correcting any condition would be to correct and reorganize the nervous system using this technique before continuing with another modality. The body is organized functionally into four primal survival systems which are generally known as the feeding, fight/flight, reproduction and immune systems. All physiological, neurological, vegetative and cognitive activities must function within or through these survival systems in an organized and integrated manner. In order for the body to survive, these systems must be organized within themselves first and then must be integrated and synchronized with each other. This organization is manifest through the integrated function of the central nervous system. Various kinds of stress including physical, emotional, chemical, or environmental trauma can, and many times do, interfere with the harmonious and organized function of these reflex systems and ultimately the central nervous system itself.

Neural Organization Technique (NOT), a non-invasive, kinesiologically-based treatment protocol, is designed to recognize any of the disorganizations that may be found within the neural programmes of these primal survival systems if damaged or otherwise compromised. The treatment protocols are then designed to specifically organize or reorganize a disorganized central nervous system. A disruption of the natural balance within these previously synchronized processes will cause a change in the electromagnetic (EM) field in various parts of the body. This EM change can then be measured, analyzed and treated. Homeostasis is then restored to the body by activating combinations of the known reflex systems, acupuncture meridians, muscle spindles, magnetic energy, cranial and spinal bone balances and nutrition which control these systems. The key to the success of this treatment protocol is that it recognizes the need for the specific organization and integration of all systems within the body.

The body is a totally integrated biological and energetic entity where everything affects everything else in one way or another and as the old song goes, the “head bone” is really connected to the “foot bone”. It is impossible to treat one part of the body without affecting or causing stress or change somewhere else in the body.

The list of conditions treated with this method almost reads like a pathology book because it is so diverse. This is because the treatment protocols are aimed at the neurological, physiological and energetic deficits which either cause or allow the condition or deficit to exist, and not necessarily at the condition itself. It doesn’t matter what you have or what you call it but rather why you have it. We don’t treat the disease but we do treat the causes.

Neural Organization Technique is unique in other ways not found in other treatment protocols. The NOT examination and treatment protocols take into account the body’s awareness of itself and the circumstances of life as it is lived. Eyes open and closed, light and dark and half-light conditions (dawn, dusk, etc) and various eye directions are a normal part of the usual examination and treatment procedures. Also considered are changing body positions (getting up from sitting or lying), cold, heat, walking, jumping, running, sitting in the car, etc. which very often influence the memory of the circumstances surrounding the condition. These circumstances, when included in the treatment protocol, are almost always key to successful treatment and usually make for rapid and successful conclusions to any condition.

Problems treated by NOT

Some of the many conditions which I have successfully treated or corrected include:

  • Headaches

  • Learning disabilities/dyslexia

  • Grinding or clenching teeth, jaw tension/misaligned or clicking jaws

  • Chronic neck pain and whiplash injuries

  • Chiropractic adjustments that don’t hold

  • Acute or chronic back pain, disc degeneration, and sciatica

  • Arm, hand, leg, or foot pain

  • Carpal tunnel syndrome

  • Recurring ear and sinus infections

  • Tendonitis and muscle spasms

  • Tingling or numbness in the hands or legs

  • Scoliosis

  • Hernias (both inguinal and hiatal)

  • Prostate hypertrophy (enlargement) and prolapsed uterus

  • Frequent urination/incontinence

  • Nausea

  • Food sensitivities

  • Allergies/frequent colds and coughs

  • Immune and autoimmune disorders

  • Acid reflux, chronic gas bloating and belching

  • Female and male sexual problems

  • Thyroid conditions

  • Hypoglycemia/Hyperglycemia/Diabetes

  • Sleeping problems

  • Concentration difficulties/Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD/ADHD)

  • Chronic tiredness/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS)

  • Multiple Sclerosis

  • Vertigo, balance problems, motion sickness, difficulty with heights

  • Asthma/shortness of breath

  • Visual and hearing difficulties

  • Epilepsy

  • Traumatic brain injury

  • Down’s syndrome

  • Cerebral Palsy

The method of examination for all of the above is based on kinesiological concepts in which a strong muscle indicator [a muscle which can resist reasonable force on command] is used. This method accesses the body’s own knowledge of itself. If there is a functional or structural deficit anywhere in the body, there will be a change in the electromagnetic energy in that part or function. When that part or reflex area is touched by either the examiner or the patient there is a distraction to the overall energy field as the body tries to compensate for the change. This change is registered in the test muscle and the muscle momentarily weakens on stress.

The Interconnectedness of the Body

Nothing happens in or to the body without total body awareness of the incident. This awareness is communicated through an intact nervous system so that the body can accommodate the particular incident and can act appropriately to survive. As these systems are involved in our basic survival, they must also of necessity be reflex in nature, that is, automatic, needing no cognitive activity or training to function. Trauma in all of its possibilities can and does disrupt the neural programmes within these reflex systems which then send inappropriate signals to the body.

There is an axiom in neurology which is known as the ‘all or none’ rule.

If there is sufficient stimulation then that neurological program must fully activate and if not, it will not. Our research has identified the specific areas in or on the body which will activate the neural circuits within these programmes. They in turn control all possibilities including posture, gait, balance, movement, glandular, immune, digestive and cognitive functions.

A frequent question asked by both patients and doctors is “how long does it last?” If the corrections are made properly and completely, they usually last until the patient re-injures themselves, which may be many years later.

I personally use other techniques in the field of emotional and energetic healing to assist people in their return to wellness. Neural Organization Technique, however, must be done with every person to ensure that the body computer can hold onto the corrections, be they physical, emotional, or dietary.

There are less than 100 Neural Organization Technique doctors around the world and we have worked for years to decipher and correct the neural faults that appear specific to each and every condition known. We are all amazed at Dr. Ferreri’s genius at what he has created and I continue to follow in his pioneering footsteps by making myself available for treatments, lectures, research projects, and training.

Digestive Tract Cleansing – Fact or Fiction

What Does it REALLY MEAN to cleanse your digestive tract?

What does a well functioning digestive tract mean?  It means we have no symptoms of constipation or diarrhoea, bloating, burping & belching, acid reflux, heartburn or indigestion or bad breath and have good immunity and well balanced blood sugar.  Is this you?  Even if you have no symptoms (the classic cast-iron stomach for example) we often find issues such as parasites, oxidative stress or leaky gut and allergies.  When we do live blood analysis (hemaview) and urinary indicans testing (amount of gut dysbiosis/bad bacteria being released through the urine) these are the tests that let us know how long it’s going to take to cleanse the digestive tract – and it’s not as easy as it sounds.

I had a client once (with allergies, hayfever, reproductive issues and anxiety) who had a great looking live blood analysis when we first did the test.  There was very little sign of parasites, leaky gut or liver stress.  Knowing the health history, I would have expected the live blood to have looked worse.  What we did was give her a detox pack which cleanses mucoid plaque from the intestinal walls.  I’d have to say it’s better than colonic irrigations due to the fact that it pulls mucoid plaque (hardened oxidised bile) from the stomach, small intestines as well as the colon (large intestine).  Colonic irrigations only work a maximum of 70% of the colon, whereas this is the entire digestive tract.

Once we completed the mucoid plaque cleanse (it’s simple and very effective for the mucoid plaque release for most people – but some people need to do it several times as the hardened oxidised bile can turn into ‘concrete’ in the intestines which takes some time to loosen…  ) we had another look at the live blood analysis and it was totally different – we found huge signs of parasites, leaky gut and liver stress.  So what happened?  Basically this hardened oxidised bile/ mucoid plaque creates a barrier between the intestinal wall and inside the digestive tract and lots of nasties live behind it, it creates a heated, toxic environment which nourishes parasites, fungus and candida.  So, once we released these mucoid plaques, it allowed the release of these stored parasites, fungus, candida.  Then we got to work clearing the next layer for this client!

So, when practitioners either 1. don’t have the technology to show you how good/how bad things are (and therefore are doing purely guesswork) and 2. don’t have the knowledge/products/techniques in order to move through the processes (many clinics do not specialise in detoxification) or 3. believe their training that two week detoxes are all that’s needed and wonder why their clients never have the results they’re after – clients suffer.  Seminars which teach detoxification often simplify things.  Training in naturopathic college simplifies things.  I assume it’s more popular to tell people it’ll take 2-6 weeks for a full, integrated detox, less cost, less time, simpler – but really – it’s doesn’t help clients, the industry or anyone’s health long term.

There is no health problem that exists that can’t benefit from an integrated four-filter cleanse.

Call us today to find out how your digestive tract is doing…  Ask for a urinary indicans test and a live blood analysis.  We can also screen (blood) for candida, coeliac disease testing and helicobacter pylori testing.

Our Foundations of Health Programme was designed for a 9 month integrated detoxification programme.  We have a special offer at present where if ALL of the Foundation of Health Testing Processes are completed, as well as an initial Foundations of Health Consultation – mention this New Leaf Blog and recieve 50%off.

Tummy Pain…Reflux, Heartburn & Acid Problems

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

One of the most common conditions we see in people over 40 is gut pain…  reflux, heartburn and acid problems are huge.  Unfortunately it means that many of them are taking drugs which settle down the reflux or heartburn, but also have many unfortunate ’side effects’.  Not side effects in the usual sense of the word, but consequences of long-term health.

  • Somac, nexium & losec (& other similar meds) stop the acid which causes reflux, heartburn & indigestion.  It also stops the ‘good acid’ released from the parietal cells which help to digest proteins.
  • This means that long term our body has a hard time building muscle mass.  This leads to tiredness and lethargy since our thyroid hormones are converted in the muscle mass and our muscle cells give us the largest amount of energy of any cells in our body.  If we have low muscle mass, we struggle getting plenty of energy.
  • It takes some time to get the gut working well.  There are three stages to the process of getting the gut working well:
  1. symptomatic relief: settle the acid reflux and indigestion with supplements that ‘quench’ the acid without shutting down the parietal cells long term.
  2. heal the gut lining: most of the time with acid reflux and indigestion there is a ‘leaky gut’ or tiny ulcerations even if the ‘endoscopy’ says everything is okay.  This means that if we give supplements that help to digest proteins it increases ‘good acid’ which will cause pain, so we need to heal the gut lining BEFORE giving supplements to help the actual digestion; and
  3. get the digestion working properly. We use enzymes and supplements which help the digestion of the gut, getting the parietal cells working correctly and starting the process of having the food we eat broken down again.

By the time we have indigestion, reflux & heartburn our gut hasn’t been working for quite some time.  It doesn’t happen overnight, and it takes some time to correct.  Doctors don’t mention to us that there is ‘good acid’ and ‘bad acid’. Many practitioners don’t see the link, and therefore don’t get good results with gut issues.

Take time to get your gut right.  It takes time, but it’s worth it!  Gut issues cause chronic disease:  cancer; diabetes; depression; food sensitivities; immune problems; allergies and chronic pain.

Allergy Testing & Treatments: New Government Regulations AND What Can We Do To Help?

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

There have been new government regulations enforced this year in relation to allergy testing and treatments and  is targeting natural therapy clinics.

There have been several natural health clinics targeted for doing allergy testing and treatments in Brisbane this year due to new government regulations.  The government position is that ‘There is no treatment for allergies’, therefore anyone claiming that they treat allergies will be targeted.  These clinics have been asked to write to each and every one of their past clients stating that allergies cannot be treated.  So, can allergies be treated??

What Can New Leaf Natural Therapies do to help Allergies, sensitivities and intolerances?

We start with an initial live blood analysis to get an idea about how allergic your body is.  The eosinophils (white blood cells) are the allergy-markers, and the higher the percentage of the eosinophills, the more allergic your body is.  We can also see ‘how active’ your immune system is – since the blood is live, we see ‘movement’ of the white blood cells within 10 minutes or so, so we will know whether or not your immune system is functional, or whether it needs support.  The less functional immunity, the less likely your body can deal with other things like bacteria, parasites, viruses, viral particles AND dealing with cancer cells

As eosinophils are only in the blood for 3 hours (once released they travel through the blood to the area where the allergic reaction is taking place), if people suspect an allergy, for example wheat or dairy, we often ask them to eat some before their visit to see how raised the levels are.  If the eosinophil level is normal, we know that it’s not an allergy to those foods.

We use a combination of natural supplements which help to boost natural immunity and reduce the number of eosinophils.  There are 3 key types of cells involved in this process – Th1 cells are suppressed, Th2 cells (allergic process) are raised and Th3 cells are dysfunctional.  This is the key to good health and wellbeing, and an immune system which is working beautifully.

Jacqueline Dekoke ND, Linda Hoggard ND and Madonna Guy ND all have many years of experience in dealing with the underlying causes of allergies, balancing the immune system and cleansing the body of toxins which may upset the balance of the immune system.

Kinesiology Definition

Sunday, November 22nd, 2009

Kinesiology: the definition of kinesiology is a little tricky since there are so many forms, developed with different processes in mind.  In general kinesiology is about muscle movement and muscle testing, therefore we use muscle testing to find out what’s going on inside the body.  We use different ‘muscle testing’ techniques depending on who we are treating and what we are treating them for.

Kinesiology was developed originally in the 1950’s by renegade chiropractors in the U.S., who were sick to death of treating the same condition week in, week out.   George Goodheart went to China and learned acupuncture philosophy, so acupressure and acupuncture meridians, points, and emotions are highly integrated within most kinesiology models.

Physios used ‘kinesiology’ techniques in the 1950’s as well to find out how damaged a persons muscles were after a bout of polio, or after the polio vaccines, so we add in the structural muscular knowledge from this side of medicine as well.  Richard Utt, Gordon Dickson ND & Charles Krebs PhD all developed various kinesiology processes which have created the overall process now known as LEAP (Learning Enhancement Advanced Acupressure) system which helps people with learning problems, memory issues, behavioural problems such as ADHD, ADD, Aspergers, Autism and more.

Carl Ferrari D.C. combined chiropractic with Touch for Health and other modalities to develop N.O.T. (Neural Organisational Technique) which is fabulous in re-booting the nervous system from head to toe, supporting long-term issues such as whiplashes, jaw and hip problems, scoliosis and more.  Both Linda Hoggard ND and Madonna Guy ND have been using N.O.T. since 1996 and have found it invaluable in treating long term health problems such as chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia.  Jacqueline Dekoke ND is the primary practitioner dealing with finding allergies, dealing with sensitivities and helping overcome long term immune system issues with the Endocrine and Immune Balancing processes.

All of our kinesiologists are also naturopaths so we utilise our knowledge within both spheres to ensure people get the most out of our treatments.  The types of kinesiology that we do are very non-invasive: we may find a time-line that’s important to clear (ie, father unwell at 8 years old, creates a fear pattern in our brain around loss or lack of security for example) but we don’t delve on these old patterns very long, we simply store the information and move on, clearing the stressors as we find them.
