Have you ever experienced food poisoning and wondered how you got it??
- Have you eaten anything with raw eggs? These may contain Salmonella when uncooked
- When you are ‘unfreezing’ meats – let it thaw in the fridge, NOT outside in the air (which may contain bacteria)
- Don’t leave perishable foods out of the fridge/oven for more than an hour…only 1 airborne bacteria can cause issues: 2 hours at the absolute outside – 1 bacteria doubles every 20 minutes!
- Wash your utensils before you use them
- Wash your hands before you serve any food items, don’t poison your family and friends
- Wash the plate before you re-use the food plates – your hands may have bacteria, the plates may have bacteria! The staph bacteria that lives on your hands can transfer from plate to food to friends!
- Listeria infections happen days or weeks later and may cause infections in the brain like meningitis.
- Use shallow containers (less than 2 inches high) to store/cool food. This cools food quickly and slows down the bacterial growth.
How to avoid food poisoning?!
- have a great immune system using supplements such as AndroNK, Ultra Flora Immune and MetagenB12Folate.
- have a great gut – 70% of immunity is in the gut – using supplements such as Ultra Flora Immune & G-Tox.
- take digestive enzymes with meals if you have no control over the preparation – supplements such as Metagest, Vegetarian Digestive Enzymes or Digestone.
Long Term?

Feeling tired all the time? Exhausted? Burnt out? Did you know that it’s not just a symptom – it’s a sign that some crucial bodily functions aren’t working properly! Medical tests just don’t find anything MOST of the time, but if you’re sick of feeling zonked, then read on!!
How long since you woke up feeling energised?? Have you been feeling tired all the time? Exhausted from the moment you get up, unless you use stimulants – sugar, coffee & tea, cigarettes, stress… Needing these stimulants is a sign that your cells aren’t functioning properly. Medically, nothing can be done until a disease is present, but trust me, you DON’T want to wait until you’re a medical mess.
Here’s a 7 part process to more energy! Talk to us today and get your journey started!
- Have a cellular analysis (VLA) and find out how much energy your cells are giving you. Your Active Tissue Mass (muscle) is what feeds your energy cycle. With low quality muscle mass and low amounts of muscle mass, your cells ARE NOT GIVING YOU ENERGY! Work on improving your muscle mass!
- Have a look at your cells with Live Blood Analysis: there are 2 types of anaemia we see regularly – Iron deficiency and B12/folate deficiency. We regularly find both types of anaemia in Live Blood Analysis with Chronically Tired People.
- How acidic are you? We do urine tests which let us know if you are acidic – if your body has a ph (acidity) of 6.5 or lower (more acidic) than the body is working harder than it needs to: it has a harder time hydrating your cells, detoxifying your cells, removing inflammation, killing bacteria, viruses, helicobacter, parasites and more.
- Remove inflammation: With live blood analysis and cellular analysis we know how inflamed you are, this gives us a starting point. We use infrared saunas, natural supplements, massage therapies, frequency specific microcurrent, structural kinesiology to reduce inflammation.
- huge doses of fish oils that are heavy metal free. Now, this sounds easier than it is, since nearly every supplement claims to be free of toxins. However, did you know the government rules on toxicity are a joke? We only recommend Metagenics fish oils and 100% of their range is completely non-toxic, whereas most ranges are very dodgy. You then need a therapeutic dose of the fish oils to reduce inflammation and allow the cells to function a little better!
- Removing anesthetics: even dental work can impact on energy levels, having moles removed, veins stripped. Tiny amounts of anesthetics can attach to nerve membranes and stop them from being functional, hindering the nerve conduction in the body. We use B12 (at least 2000mg daily); infrared saunas and frequency specific microcurrent to pull anesthetics out of your body.
- Detoxify! Our Foundations of Health Programme is a 9 month programme which works through the body’s filters 1 by 1 and cleanses them. Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is linked to all of the filters being clogged, hindering nerve and cellular conduction. We work through balancing the ph (acidity) as well as cleansing the gut (candida, parasites, helicobacter, fungus, leaky gut, allergens); the liver; the immune system and the kidneys.
So don’t despair, if you’re feeling really tired, you need to start at the beginning and treat the symptoms initially, and then cleanse, cleanse, cleanse! Slowly but surely, you’ll get better and better. Start your journey today – call Gabby or Helen on 3348 6098!

Hi, my name’s Mal Jones, I’m 47 years of age. I came to New Leaf Therapies to see Madonna & the team, and I’m very pleased with my progress. Weight loss is great, I’ve lost 5 kilos, and kept it off. Memory is good! This is the first time I haven’t been sick in eight years. So I’m very pleased with everything.

I did another session today on Radio 4BC with Alex Bernard: the callers asked about chronic sinusitis; magnesium deficiency in the soil (and foods) and a wife with iron deficiency.
The poor girl with the chronic sinusitis has been treating it medically for sometime, with lots of doses of anti-biotics. The problem with anti-biotics is that although it helps in the short-term it doesn’t help the long-term problem – the immune system isn’t functioning properly. Rhinocort and claryntyne seem to work in the short term but long term the problem simply returns – the cause of the inflammation hasn’t been found. What can we do? We can do a live blood analysis and determine how active the immune system is, along with the gut. If there is leaky gut that needs healing before the sinusitis can ever be healed. We can do some food or environmental sensitivity testing and immune balancing with kinesiology. We would also provide some supplementation to really kick the body into action, reduce the inflammation of the sinuses and prevent further damage of the gut.
Another gentleman asked why Australian soils are magnesium deficient. It is my understanding that it’s not just magnesium, but many other minerals as well that are very deficient, and that over 70% of Aussies are magnesium deficient – of course lots of other things deplete this mineral such as coffee, tea, stress, insomnia as well as many drugs.
And with the lady who has long-term iron deficiency, it was asked if liquid iron tonics were better than tablet iron supplements. This may be true except that it’s more ‘dodgy forms’ of iron which cause constipation (the concern) so when naturopaths prescribe iron we use good forms such as ‘diclycinated iron’ which is absorbed without causing constipation. If the stomach or small intestine are not working properly, we don’t absorb iron very well either…we break it down firstly in the stomach and then absorb in the small intestines…
Until next week,
Madonna Guy ND

Kinesiology: the definition of kinesiology is a little tricky since there are so many forms, developed with different processes in mind. In general kinesiology is about muscle movement and muscle testing, therefore we use muscle testing to find out what’s going on inside the body. We use different ‘muscle testing’ techniques depending on who we are treating and what we are treating them for.
Kinesiology was developed originally in the 1950’s by renegade chiropractors in the U.S., who were sick to death of treating the same condition week in, week out. George Goodheart went to China and learned acupuncture philosophy, so acupressure and acupuncture meridians, points, and emotions are highly integrated within most kinesiology models.
Physios used ‘kinesiology’ techniques in the 1950’s as well to find out how damaged a persons muscles were after a bout of polio, or after the polio vaccines, so we add in the structural muscular knowledge from this side of medicine as well. Richard Utt, Gordon Dickson ND & Charles Krebs PhD all developed various kinesiology processes which have created the overall process now known as LEAP (Learning Enhancement Advanced Acupressure) system which helps people with learning problems, memory issues, behavioural problems such as ADHD, ADD, Aspergers, Autism and more.
Carl Ferrari D.C. combined chiropractic with Touch for Health and other modalities to develop N.O.T. (Neural Organisational Technique) which is fabulous in re-booting the nervous system from head to toe, supporting long-term issues such as whiplashes, jaw and hip problems, scoliosis and more. Both Linda Hoggard ND and Madonna Guy ND have been using N.O.T. since 1996 and have found it invaluable in treating long term health problems such as chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia. Jacqueline Dekoke ND is the primary practitioner dealing with finding allergies, dealing with sensitivities and helping overcome long term immune system issues with the Endocrine and Immune Balancing processes.
All of our kinesiologists are also naturopaths so we utilise our knowledge within both spheres to ensure people get the most out of our treatments. The types of kinesiology that we do are very non-invasive: we may find a time-line that’s important to clear (ie, father unwell at 8 years old, creates a fear pattern in our brain around loss or lack of security for example) but we don’t delve on these old patterns very long, we simply store the information and move on, clearing the stressors as we find them.
